that night

By Loserland

NO ONE EVER SAW HER BUT AT NIGHT
ALWAYS ENDORSED AS A GHASTLY SIGHT
TRANCE-WALKING IN TOWN SHE WOULD STEER
AS IF HER MOVES WERE NOT FROM HER
SHE PORTED AN INFANT IN HER ARMS
FOLKS SAY IT SPOKE AT TWO WEEKS BORN
OF WORDS IT SEEMED AN INNATE TRAIT
KEENLY SPEWING A SICKLY FATE
ROUND A NIGHT THAT NATURE LAUNCHED WAR
OBSERVERS FOUND HER SLAIN NEAR THE DOOR
WHILE THE CHILD SAT WITH AN EVIL GRIN
EVERYONE READ THE CORPSE INSCRIPTION
“HERE LIES MOMMIE, SUMMONED TO THE MASTER”
THE EERIE CHILD REMAINED SILENT THEREAFTER .
