Of Bone and Flesh

By CrowsOmen

An empty room,
Stark and white,
A cold wind blows,
Its touch a bite,
Pages turn,
A musty cage,
Memories burn,
An empty stage,
Lightning bolts,
An anguished cry,
An unsure state,
God cast the die,
Another cage,
Of bone and flesh,
An empty rage,
A need to mesh,
The prison's warden,
Broke the Key,
A lonely songbird,
Who can't be free.

Dang I felt this as I was reading!

Thank you so much Rebs! I've always found understanding to be the highest compliment someone can pay to my work. I'm a huge fan of your work already, so your comment really means a lot. Thank you. :3

  • A former member wrote: Oh honey, I understand completely what it's like. I struggled with opiate addiction for years, and that can imprison someone quickly. I don't use any longer, but the urge is still there. It's always nice to find someone who gets it. If you ever need to talk, I'm around :).

Thank you so much! I'm more than happy to oblige, and I will most certainly be adding more poems as time goes by!

First off, Welcome to DP! this is very fast paced and the flow is spot on! I would be interested in reading more from you... you may be new to DP, but I'm willing to bet you've been writing for a while... Kudos! ~worm~

Thanks Worm! Your assesment is spot on! I've been writing in general since I was five. Obviously my writing style has evolved since then, but I had a few poems featured in the yearbook when I was in 1st grade and have enjoyed writing ever since. I sincerely appreciate your comment!
