My First Love
By Tagen
I speak the words that keep my demons at bay
And feel the stillness that envelops me every time I pray
Too long I've been in shadows
I've forgotten what light feels like
My first love.
Far too long I've let fear darken my foolish heart
Not a sheep amongst wolves, but a wolf from the start
Preying on innocence, shedding blood
There is shame in my heart
For I have betrayed
My first love.
I've wandered so far and slaughtered my soul
Become so ragged and the breaths I draw are cold
Can I find my way back home?
I pound at the gates
Of my first love
Can I fall into the arms
Of my first love
