A Thousand and One Sleepless Nights

By WillowGreybird

I have felt
the pain of a thousand blows.
Raining down,
the force of a thousand woes.

I have seen
the hidden beauty of a thousand dying trees.
They weep,
but we do not hear their pleas.

I have heard
the agony in a thousand screams.
They tell stories enough
to fill every paper ream.

I have tasted
a thousand flavors of bitter words.
Each a brethren
of the ones I have heard.

And yet
a thousand and one endless nights
haven't been able to sway me
from basking in a golden light.

No matter the number,
no matter the pain,
I find the strength
to dance in the never ending rain.

Wonderful words and I love the added burst of positivity with that final stanza.
