Dream

By harlequinn

Prologue
I remember how you smiled through the fog.
You had that look in your eyes, the one you'd get
When you knew things were falling apart.
You told me it would be okay, without moving your lips
And the silence was deafening, I tried to scream
Crying MOMMY MOMMY DON'T LEAVE ME
But you were nowhere to be found.
The ropes around my figure loosened and I fell to the cold hard ground
A seed had been planted
The mice were chasing the elephants
And I felt everything go blank.
I woke up the next morning, knowing
This was the beginning in the form of the end.

The imagery in this is just... amazing... and the last line... I think the last line is what did it for me. You paint a repeating cycle perfectly with your pen.

A continuum. A cycle that ends, only to repeat itself. Fascinating read. You deserve a (10) for profound imagery. -write on, poet! Scholar
