The Murmur

This is truth
And those are lies.
And these are the words that we have told ourselves
And the words that we have said.

These are the places that we've been,
The places that we'll go
The places that we refuse to see
Because we don't believe

Because we don't believe that it's important enough to be there.

But these are our moments
And these are our hours

These are the days we spend banging our heads against the wall
Over and over
For things we don't need
And we cannot achieve

These are our minutes
And these are our dreams
 Dashed upon the rocks of reality

These are our times spent
Wailing and moaning,
Gnashing our teeth in rebuttal
For the ravenous randomness of the world.

We weren't meant to live like this,
This is not life
This is not life!
Sitting in this box staring at the screen
This is not life

This is just a mere picture of what life
Could be,
But is not
Because we don't allow it to be

These are our musings
And these are our words
This is our wisdom that we have seen and not said
Because we were afraid.

These are the words that speak not
And go not out from our mouths
Because we don't want to know

The Reaction

And these are our hours

And these are all the things that we have seen
And all the things that we know are true
But we refuse them

This is our darkness
