mortal life

By dalphon

i am a ghost of the past.
how much longer shall i last?

so rapidly i now age
my old soul
as words hastily
scrawled upon a page

i have memories of a life
from long before
and better forgotten
leftovers of a mind
foul and rotten

i run from a terrible beast
upon my soul it is meant to feast
yet i do not wish to end

there is only one place for me to hide
i must go on one more ride
enduring pain, suffering and strife
down the lonesome road
of mortal life
