essence

where has the time gone?
when will it return?

i have all i ever wanted,
for what now shall i yearn?

forever within the fire,
yet i no longer feel it's burn.

freed from my eternal cage,
i am exposed.
naked.
afraid.

my old self would fly,
aimlessly wandering the midnight sky,
never giving a thought, as to why.

i soared through the years,
seeking only the day i would die.
not once asking why.

i have been thrust into the light,
this land of the living,
full of questions i must answer right.

my thoughts, my dreams,
every choice, every action,
now affects evey living thing.
