Nocturnal Lullaby
By Phantasmagoria
Moon fills the sky with her luminous sorrow
And wolf cries his prayer
of the night.
Sun will wake and warm our tomorrow
As night creatures
hide from life in the light.
Wise owl wakes with a piercing
stare
Hungry for mice that run from their foe.
Love bats dance
in the midnight air
To a symphony of crickets playing below.
The gentle moth leaves dusty kisses
Upon the sleeping eyes of the
dead.
Innocent hearts make desolate wishes
Upon pearly stars
where hopes are fed.
Glorious Night! Close our eyes with your
hand,
Let us rest while you awake.
Sing to us as you blanket
the land,
For when we rise... Your life day will take.

Originally done ma'me. I must say the owls appearance in this was the cherry for me so to speak. A representation of wisdom and awe all in one creature.. I found this inspiring. Although, I'm not sure I understand the last line.. perhaps worded strangely and misinterpreted on my part.

Yeah, it is strangely worded, haha, its just saying that day will take night's life. Sorry for the confusion.

I like the way you personify the nocturnal beings in night's sphere. In the last stanza you stand conventional rhythms of life on their head. The night is awake, while all daytime creatures, including humans, are figuratively dead.
