The Violin
By Phantasmagoria
The bow sways from life to death
Sounding
the songs of her severed heart.
The tunes cry out with their final breath
Knowing their maker will soon depart.
The mournful melodies dance in the air
Twirling and falling on broken notes.
She sings for a savior through desperate prayer
On a cloud of rosin her longing floats.
The bowing slows and starts its last glide
As her strings grow weary with every touch.
Her life then ends with a crack from inside,
The player then knows she was used far too much.

Author's Note:
This is a story of the relationship between a violinist and his violin. Its a metaphor, hope it makes sense. Yes, it is a bit short, but I think it says enough to understand.Comments on "The Violin"

Very well spoken. Fantastic thought out preception and depth to this masterful story. Truly a fine glass of poetry. My sister is a violinist and is quite talented. I have always connected with the mournful rhythms produced by the bow and strings harmony.
Sorry that it has been a while since I've read you.

A beautiful poem here with a sorrowful tale. I love the imagery of the violin as your heart and how if used incorrectly it can be ruined. The rhyme and flow of the poem are excellent. Very well written.

Orchestra based string instruments have a wonderful way of voicing our inner sorrows. The melodies can soothe the most tormented of minds. I myself play the cello and found this quite endearing..
