the understanding of time travel
By eidos
Looking back on it now, I see only the displeasure.
Like reading the chapters of a book out of sequence
and understanding
that the heroine of this novel
is nothing more than a damsel that
creates her own distress.
So I pack up memories, before they are ruined.
Because I like remembering you
as who you really aren't.

I used to travel with just the good memories in my suitcase, but the bad ones act as a stowaway.

Such a clever reflection. People give is happiness occasionally, but the disappointment and loss that can follow is usually what I want to forget... This was a very interesting piece with a title that suited it exactly :) Good work!

Almost sounds like selective memory, or to a grater extent, nostalgia. How we only remember the things that we really want to, and blot out everything else, creating a sort of idyllic and hazy flashback. You've impressed many here, it seems, and I am one of them.

Love this unusual subject matter, and how it leaves so much room for alternate interpretation. Nice work. Welcome to Dark Poetry!

reminds me of how we fall for a front instead of a person... that mask we all wear in one way or another that we first show to start a relationship. Its not really us, its not really them that we fall in love with, not at first. great write...
