Something Blue

All there is are hazy
hospital memories of blue
wallpaper, blue tubes and
blue bed sheets. Relatives
I pretend to know packed
and cuddled while I viewed
at a distance. Why couldn't
it go back to soup and radiators
burning through childrens' trousers
from the snow? No one ever
knows. And I didn't ask.
