I had one too many and became an emotional wrecking ball

By Dragonfly

You're what

I thought of

When they said

The perfect guy would come

You're what

My heart wants

The harmony

To the melody of my song

My heart

Breaking

Hard against

Rock bottom, ocean floor

My heart

Waiting

For a love

I've never felt before

I'm still

lonely

hurting

tear drops in the bottom of my heart

I'm still

learning

to be alone

since we've been apart

I hope

You're happy

With the love

I never seemed to give

I hope

You love her

more than

All the things we ever did

Do you

hold her

hard against your body

as you sleep

Do you

know her

the way that you

always knew me

I am

barren

a wasteland of heart

from sea to sea

I am

empty

a bottle worth

filling with the sea

Of sorrows

You made me

A little casket

Safe enough to sleep

Of wishes

Not granted

And dreams come true

Just out of my reach

I wish

I knew you

the way that you

Said that you knew me

I wish

You knew me

and the way i felt

even while asleep

I still

wait for

a sign that this

wasn't just a dream

I still

long for

reality

bursting at the seams

You're what

I needed

Even when

My heart slowed in my sleep

You're what

I don't need

A man like you

Will always be a dream.

Beautifully sad. When my boyfriend died I knew a man would never be able to break my heart again the way it broke when I lost him......... A wonderful write.
