A Wasted Chance

By Polaris

The sculptors of our future
Not bound by space or time
A husk of flesh not needed
Only conscious mind

The weight of infinite knowledge
Rivaled only by neutron stars
Their actions forever remind us
What feeble creatures we are

Out beyond the vast unknown
These beings dwell unchained
In harmony with all existence
Their wrath is now inflamed

The flourishing world bestowed on us
Lay in ruins beneath our feet
No longer can this greed continue
We hang our heads in defeat

Our chances have evaporated
Like water above the flame
As we perish into the night
We only have ourselves to blame

The land we once called our own
Now flourishes with life once more
Another race to try their fate
Order has been restored
