Life is what you make it

By innocence

He sits up all night waiting for the light to shine in
Listening to the clock tick minute by minute, it never ends
His eyes are all swollen and alcohol on his breath
Lying dead on his couch " Is this what it's going to be like in the end?"
Everything he had in his life, loved and now lost
From his dearest love to his kids, they are now all gone
To a better place in space, if she could of only been strong.
She gave up on life and took the kids along
To leave him alone in a solitary mode
In a world that seems so distant, cruel, empty, and cold.
Now there's nothing to look forward to and no reason that you can give
For this man to want to rise above it all and just want to live.
And there's no way he'll survive living on his own
Knowing that one day he'll still feel alone when he's old
So sit back and relax and watch life wither away
there's no hope but a rope to hang yourself to decay
and every minute that your searching desperate to find
will never be enough to make life feel sublime
So give up or give in, It's all he ever knew
What's the use in trying to change your stars
when your destined to loose, so take a snooze
and dream all your life away and then say
that you tried your best to redeem what life has taken the past days
No more will you suffer with everyones pain
no longer will you abide the thought of growing insane
numb remains, it's all the same, but it's nothing to fear
You take a look at yourself for the first time in years
such an emotionless man with time only in your hand
with so much to offer but not much more you can withstand
There's still time to regain all what you have lost
for blood and tears have paid the cost
So breathe in and then out, take the first step to mend
Life is what you make it, so make it the best in the end.
