A Midnight Dream

By Dragonfly

I had a dream and you were there
Still life figures in stand still air
Dark night eyes on a snow white face
A single drop of sun in this darkened place
Hand in my hand we talk and walk the night away
Hoping that this midnight dream will always find a way
To slip in between the lurking nightmares and loner fantasies that come to me
Hoping for a future; more than a single nights dream
You lean into me and kiss my cheek
And a strong mans heart begins to leak
Down my face; a message in a bottle
A single tear sends the emotions full throttle
Heart in my heart you lead me by hand
A single support for a man who can't stand
On his own for the bottle is his foe
A replacement for your heart that tells me where to go
All the wrong places, but i still survive
For these simple fantasies on these lonely nights
Both fully clothed, but still so much intimacy
I don't expect your empathy or sympathy
When I say at times like these
I still wish you listened to my pleas
"Stay love Stay;
Don't fade with the break of dawn nor the light of day"
You did though and I wake alone in my bed
Long nighttime images roam in my head
Finding the places where you always lurk
And bringing you out covered in dust and in dirt
You still stay with me even at wake of day
But until the night falls you stay at bay
You will always be with me, but it is time to let go
And I think it is time that I let you know
Three words that will always be true
No matter what things make me almost forget about you
And as day draws near there is nothing left for me to do,
But utter the words,
I love you.
