Revealing My Muse

By Demosthenes

Play me the song of my silent words
Sing me my poem
where no one else can hear
Rain down some inspiration
So this pen can spill my thanks

Give your whole world to me
Because you want to
Carry your heart in /my/ hands
Because you trust them to spell out your dreams

You are my love
My obsession
My caress
My Muse
You

Because

Because every time I kiss you
It's the first
Because as comfortable
as the sofa is
I still prefer your arms
Because no matter how often I scream
your name
I'm still left broken
until you whisper mine

You are
My Muse

Because every time I curl up in bed
Unable to breathe through
::wracking sobs::
And wait for you to hold me
I remember
That you never
existed
In the first place
And suffocate.
