Words

By HadassahDare

The words slink in and out of my ears
but slam into my heart and fall into my essence
You skipped on out of the door
and desperation settled over me
and took refuge in the dark.
I crawled to the center of the universe
and fed it my salty tears,
your voice floated in my mind,
peeking and poking at my very being,
teasing me into oblivion
and I suddenly felt the rejection
anchor my heart to the floor.
I know you just said goodbye
and walked out on our life,
my love, and your courage.

Poetically posited and developed to a natural, if sad, ending. Thanks for sharing this slice of life.
