l'oiseau chanteur

By sanglante

single
note melodies
play in
the mornings.

quivering,
such a
rather complex
design of
empty bones,
and feathers.

easy
to take
into
your hands
and roughly
break apart
with a
series of
small snaps.

imprisonment,
much like
a cage
but with
much more
gory finality.

and
in a
poof of
colourful feathers,
and the
end of
their song,

gone.

"with a series of small snaps." I had to read it out loud to make sure it sounded that good. It did.
