Losing Race

By MoonLitShadowz

I am running in a race,
For which I always take second place.

Why try to contend,
Time has never been my friend.

Yet still I try and try to win,
Ever to my chagrin.

It is your attention and affection I do crave,
That keeps me and ever sprinting slave.

A simple hope for a chance,
That my struggles may break your trance.

Then you will finally turn to me,
And we shall both be set free.
