Reality check
By Ashteroth
Sometimes when things turn to shit
it's ok to relax and laugh about
it
but I seem to have laughed so damn long I
became the joke
itself
and all the times I felt the strain
and found myself
immersed in pain
my way is different but still wrong
cuz then
I just destroy myself
Now it's - about time
to open -
my eyes
stop to - realise
I can't keep living my life
this way!
I control my own fate
so re-evaluate
decisions
that I make
And I'm going to start today
because
I've let my feelings
overwhelm and take control
that life style
is a gamble
I don't bet on going well
I go to far the
wrong way
then instead of toning down
I go too far back the
other
why not aim for middle ground
I'm not the only one
Yes- it's all been done
I know it wasn't fun
For the
others that felt this way
and I won't justify
living
out that lie
or laying down to die
Won't watch
the light inside me fade
or hear out any rot
don't need
to find a god
to know I lost the plot
I can fix some mistakes
I've made
and the ones I can't
I'll leave them in the
past
make another start
With a clear mind I can say
some lessons were worth learing
some things better left to
be
you must choose your own direction
stick with it consistently
and realise life's a process
nothing is born fully grown
with time all things develop
so in this fact you're not alone

good reality check, words to revisit... to inspire progress... aim for the middle ground... sounds like Aristotle's 'mean' or Epicurus' search for tranquility and balance.... I always tell people... when the occasion arises, that if they are not satisfied with their lives, then each day they should be working out a plan to change em... ya know.... like the question, what have you done today to make your tomorrow better than today?.... something to think about.... good reality check, definitely words to live by here. be well!
