i've created a monster

By wolveshepherd

i thought i was fine on my own..

..but as i fell ill my once cherished solitude grew into a vacuous beast.
my voice growing weak i tried to plead with it:

"please..i need help.."
"OH? ..BUT YOU WANTED TO BE ALONE! YOU SAID YOU DIDN'T NEED ANYONE ELSE!"
"i was wrong..please..it hurts.."
"THEY'RE ALL TOO FAR AWAY! YOU PUT THEM THERE! THEY CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
"tell them i'm sorry..tell them i'll come back..please..i think i'm dying.."
"NOBODY CARES! NOBODY SEES YOU ANYMORE!"
"i thought we were friends..you were the only one i cared about.."
"AND I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN'T HELP YOU!"

as the fever subsided i watched the beast shrink back into the emptiness of my room.

i won't get sick again.

i think i'm fine on my own.

A very conflicted poem my friend, something held so dear becoming an all consuming beast, and then it becomes your true self. I can relate, solitude can be a good thing, no people to add their grievances to yours. Well done, thanks. Scholar
