Awaken
By Dilated View
I entered this dream
Fully aware of the possibility
That everything
and everyone
Were linked together in infinity
But
quickly came to embrace the comfort
Of a defense mechanism
game
Where every meaning seeking creature
Seems suspiciously
to blame
So who am I to notice
Whispers of rebellion
on the breeze
Within the confines of my skyline
Where
the world is what it seems
Begin to beat my head in rhythm
Of chaotic thought for change
To exist where words like "living"
Are not synonymous with "pain"
Throw down all weapons of distraction
Such as fear and hate and greed
And find that slumber is
a crutch
That I no longer seem to heed
I exit
my cave
And look back and forth with confusion
Pinch
myself and shake my brain
Then sort the concrete from illusion
At which point the clouds of doubt clash
With wisdom and
desire
Because I am alive inside, I find
In the aftermath
of flash fire
So I reach out to the comfort
Of my ever
growing whim
I know I've breathed this air before
But
cannot remember when
The dust settles down around me
Contradictory to despair
From when my soul was tugged
around
Abandoned ship bereft of care
And I am frozen
for the moment
In a sea of disbelief
As life comes crashing
down upon me
Like a flood of sweet relief

Ummm... this is one of the best things you have written. You opened and let life and real emotion come out with intensity. This is a deep piece of art that you should be proud of. Thank you for sharing it, I feel blessed to be able to see a deeper part of you. =)
