Bitter reality

By heathenpoetry

I smiled at the sun, its rays were warm and loving.
my happiness arose
at the love that was above me

And the breeze it was so sweet, it was still fresh from the sea
and i danced and i played
amongst the summer scented trees

Everthing was so perfect, my smile beamed again
and i scurried down to my street,
where i met with my best friend-

we laughed and we played; all day it seemed,
but my alarm bell rang,
it shrieked it screamed.

I had awoken from my dream, told the new morning rays
reality flooded illusion,
'so dawns another endless day

Like an egg under a hammer; I shattered.
my heart sunk again
and nothing else really mattered.

This reminds me of that first moment in the morning when all is right. Then the shit settles in. Great write. JD

very cool. I like the idea of something nice being snatched away by reality. nicely written.

I hate when that happens, if only we could dream forever. Then we could be oblivious to the nightmares of the real world. Great write. Scholar
