self portrait

By skully

A bit too thin
With a predilection for sin
Looking behind
He don’t even know where he’s been
Slight northern accent,
Continues to wilt
Swallowed by the lost years
Now just a lilt

Still carries the scars from going too
Far, a trachea scar
And backy stained teeth
And A too soon Thailand tattoo
Walks with a slouch
Gangly like Crouch
Nice green eyes but what a bumpy nose
And there’s definitely something wrong
With those teeth

Suffers from rage asymmetry and hate
The left brain don’t quite
Match the right brain
Too many trainers and only two feet
Both quite small but that just goes to
Show that what they say isn't always true
So used to being guilty
He flinches when accused
Lyrically ambidextrous
Too used to being used

This is quite good. Quirky and cool, subtly appealing as a cocked eyebrow. Never lapses into pathos or self-aggrandizement, either, which is great. Love the last line.

I really like the choice of words and descriptions. And I like the duality of beauty and beastly. Yet the poem and this person doesn't seem repulsive as much as intriguing.
