Winter Heart

By Mithiras

Winter is such a dark and bleak time of year
Only a few lovers can strain to hear
It calls out with howling and piercing winds
Stabbing at those pure hearts within

Its chilling eyes are everywhere staring
breaking my bone, on me it is stepping
Trying to control my heart from fearing
Constantly I think of you and me cheering

Thoughts of you warm my soul
I never thought this feeling I could control
Evermore you join me in sleep
forever our hearts we will keep.

Only the Gods know what the future will hold
But we can make the most of what we can control
Nobody can contain these feelings of love
Caring for you, Only you will be farthest above

Like an angel, white like the snowy plains
I see you as clear as day as my mind weins
I don't want to leave my mind, my prison
For too long have I wanted to be newly arisen

Tomorrow the snow will quietly return
Only to melt away as quickly as I can discern
I hope by the end of this dream you will be there
So that this winter heart will melt my despair

Closely you are, I can feel you now
In my shallow shell I am yours I avow
One more Winter I will hold on
Once it has come our love will spawn
