The Temptress of mine

By palenoble

My Temptress!
My love for thee will never cease.
The night is dark that tempests lash
But not so dark as for thee my lust,
My Temptress!

My Temptress bold and bad,
Thou something wicked and mad,
I love thee deep,
Though the way be steep,
The precipice,
That leads to thee,
My Temptress!

My temptress,
Will there come a day
In the far, far-away,
After the years shall pass
Hand in hand, when your lips shall say,
“Love, half in earnest, half in play,
Is your mind by mine encompassed?”

“Mind encompassed?” What a sweet refrain,
When it steals to the tune of a thought’s
Glad pain!
Such a thought as I share
With flowers there,
That whisper it eagerly in sun or rain.

What is the thought my Temptress?
Shall I spend it tenderly over seas?
Yes, I will tell thee
This that makes wealthy
Me who am loved of my Temptress

My temptress of gold and blood,
Thou something odd and mad,
I love thee deep,
Though the way be steep,
No crawl, no creep,
But headfirst,
Down the witless, peerless precipice,
That leads to thee,
My Temptress!

My Temptress!
My love for thee will never cease.
The night is dark that tempests lash
But not so dark as for thee my lust,
My Temptress! x
