A clumsy simple confession
By estherbell
-For Max-
I saw you by the river of sound and sweat,
a beautiful earl
With colours of a raven and skin of pearl.
A pure, untouchable Victorian figure, ageless and graceful
Wearing black suede
and a fresh crimson heartbreak
on a silk bow tie.
You filled me with fairy tales, white horses,
and dying of love, long before we spoke.
Your presence painted my smile with butterflies,
flickering flames,
in shadows of wisdom and hope.
You were more than chemistry or mere lust,
You were synchronicity,
Truth at first sight.
I am still lost for words, or do not dare to speak,
nor can find eloquent witty phrases.
I am just a mesmerised child with crayons of doubts,
drawing dreamworlds, weaving images of having you in cafes
with tea, and maybe some cakes:).
So my earl, I shall take my time.
I may forget fairy tales and let you go,
embracing the memories of your hands on mine.
Or I may find the paths
to search for that pure heart of yours,
sip hope and fear from china cups
And pray that once it is healed
It will remember the silk touch
of these fragile wings.
*my language is gone,it is cracking like brittle february branches:)*

(I am still lost for words, or do not dare to speak) Made me pause a little, like I should not read on, very effective. I am glad you posted this, it is so honest and a beautiful piece.

Lovely, eloquent write. It certainly does have a "yesteryear" feel. Exquisite imagery. I too like the crayon stanza. "drawing dreamworlds, weaving images of having you in cafes with tea, and maybe some scones--is my favorite part, love the word play.
