Wasted Without You

By TheUltimateOutlaw

Days are melting down
Into smiles, questions and tears
Counting blessings and hedging bets
On all these phantom fears.

Wondering why
A million roads to nowhere lie
Between us and the truth.
A thousand miles of empty space
Between us and the proof.

From golden fields to steering wheels,
From autumn leaves to trickling streams,
It all seems pointless without you.

But now the nights are boiling down
To the clocks ticking around.
A little closer to the grave,
And just as far from your space...

Wondering why
A million roads to nowhere lie
Between us and the truth.
A thousand miles of empty space
Between us and the proof.

From empty words to sonnet verse
From fickle wind to woodland spring
It all seems pointless without you.

And now I’m melting down
Beneath the weight of all the doubts
A river fed by mountain snow,
Wondering to which sea to flow.

From divided attentions
To the things we never mention.
From our humble arts
To our treacherous parts…

It’s all wasted without you.
