Strokes of Midnight

By Dianas_Eclipse

What's this?
What's happening to me?
I've been asleep for so long
Lost to the frigid hellfire
Of my own darkness
The silent torture of
Dreams which can't coalesce
With this reality
Mine were the cries in the dark
That nobody hears
Mine were the eyes
Nothing more than dull mirrors
Showing nothing
But reflecting everything
And suddenly,
Like polar ice pitched into the
Heart of a volcano,
I am wrenched from all that
As my soul strikes midnight
Or were we dreaming when we met?
Warm eyes, like the sea after a storm
And my life seems to stop
As if something is over
And something has scarcely begun...
This rain can't hurt me now...
This rain will wash away what's past
Strokes of midnight herald the dawn at last.
