When You Were There

By DIATRICUS

Floating freely
Upon the air
I’m pulling you back
I’m keeping you there.

Holding you
naked
in my arms
heart beating weakly
-still trying faithfully
not to let
go
how I love you so.

As I cry
on your shoulder,
my tears make love
with your sweat.
A numbing tingle
comes to my hands,
as you dance
while I just stand.

For a moment
you were there,
as you pressed
me against you,
and your eyes
did see me,
when you said
babe I love you
-and you
kissed me goodbye.

And when you left
oh God how I tried
to stop you from leaving me
-to still hold you near to me
when you died

-when you died
So did I

Your presence
haunting
(with) the lingering scars
heart beating weakly
-still trying faithfully
never to
fade
by the light
-of my hazel shade

And now I sleep.
And now I dream.
And now I cry.
And now I breath the air.
And I now live
in a world
that did not love you
like I did
when you were there

-when you were
there

next

to

me.
