Mask

By palenoble

when my hair becomes Nietzsche's mustache
and strings detach
from my limbs
it suddenly results in enormous exertion to move
lungs fail to infill
for air borrows tar's consistency
and I finally discover my sanctuary in indefinability

Okay, this is where poetry becomes tricky, the divide between the authors intention and the readers perspective. This seems to me a purely transcendant movement, a recognition and subsequent 'paralyzing' moment when things are seen clearly and can only be surrendered to. "Strings detach from my libms" reads to me as 'the self' breaking from what confines and the last line its' effect, that paralyzing yet transcendant surrender. Least, that's how I see it. =) Wonderful piece, twas a pleasure to read. ~b
