The Girl In The Peasant Dress

By DowngradeBeauty

She wakes in the morning
trapped in marble sleep
the color of dried blood surrounds her
cold upon her feet

She stays just for her family
captive to herself
she has a fucking job to do
shower them with wealth

she leaves a trail of red flakes
despite changing ruined dress
if you were to ask aloud
she'd willingly confess

shes the caretaker of windows
they're stained with her blood
she's learned to relish the memories
of her crimson flood
the moon pulls her up at nights
to awake in gossamer
her on retreat from daily life
and thoughts impure

Welcome to DarkPoetry. As Hatter said, possibly not your strongest poem to date. Either way, I'll have too keep up with newer ones and it will be a pleasure to watch you improve.

  • A former member wrote: yeah... I'm with hatter, more! give me more! haha... I like the window stains she cares to, and I had to chuckle at the at her 'fuckin job'-- nice mix of humor, suggestion of the macabre and optimistic end...

  • A former member wrote: oh... and, welcome to dp... I forgot to add that, but then I remembered, so you got this comment, kinda stuck to ya like I dont know but here it is...
