Madness of the Seven

By LordBrosnian

Indignant , didst I storm across the Seven
Benighted in aphotic velvet seas
Removed from any sense of humbled viewing
To breathe the blight of sordid tragedies

Thro the years of pillaged sovereighnty
I claimed the shiv'ring denizens mine own
A slewn of weathered vagrants - danced behind me
Weeping to a god - their plead be known

Fierce I trampled onward thro the haze
Of promises and riven yesterdays
Until we gazed upon the astral sea
Alas beneath the waves I set them free

As flound'ring limbs fought earnestly to breathe
Against the sealing fate of weighted chains
With pity didst I spit atop the froth
To christen retribution in their names

Yet as I coaxed mine sails to strangle wind,
The sacrifice of innocence; of mirth
betrothed into the bosom of the ocean, (I saw)
an augury of fog amid dawn's birth

Steady like a funeral march it came
A wall of aery vapors stilled and cold
Skulking like a serpent fro' the depths
Atop my listless, canvas sails she roll'd

again benighted in aphotic breath
Atop the wakeless currents of the depths
A callous heart beat rotten in the chest
The only gift an absent god could vest

Mildly I breathed the sodden winds
Drunk upon the scent of mourning sea
Searching for the beacon 'pon horizons
I feared no such reward lay 'head for me

Reviled didst the seven hiss mine name
Like sirens wailing pon the jagged rocks
In rythm with the pulse beneath the sea
I sailed in search of my own sovereignty

As pointless as these words, be it my name
The louder grow the sirens pon the rocks
As each storm brings new tears upon mine sail
I know, one day, those rocks I shall avail

Then, with the thousands I have sent beneath,
I, too, shall feel the wrath of ocean's floor
But still a weathered eye, with hope, keeps watch
For that beacon which I fear I'll never touch
