Sleep Eternal

By Muse

Macabre dreams of stories unplayed
Their messages spilling through ventriloquist lips
Her sleep eternal upon gossamer clouds
Silver linings spun and tangled upon her skin
Creating a timbre blanket of goddesses

The fleeting heart of a dove beats at its cage
Her chest threatening to give it desired freedom
Insistant claws tap, tap, tapping on tear streaked windowpanes
Souls of angels captured in the world of her palms
And yet, she slumbers on

Oblivion come and gone with a diamond sword
Sheathed dry in her temple of life to the tears of the sentenced
Valiant knights fallen in vain,
Their efforts long forgotton

Rise, the bloodmoon, to the shattering of horns' cries!
Silent horsemen ride to compete with the deafening fog
Spiraling madness in the souls of men
...Only to the opening of her eyes

(Thank you, Cody, this was based on a dream you had, you were an incredible inspiration that afternoon, I only hope this does it justice.)
