Candyland
By PoeticHellion
Childish games. they play us like
Candyland. I will be your Snow Queen, okay?
Now you pick a character. Gumdrop King?
Okay…
You are sweet as sin, and I can’t help but
sigh. (we will never feel this way
for each other again)
Blue. Orange. Yellow. Red. Green. Purple.
pick, jump, go.
(it’s your turn)
CANDYLAND IS NOT LIFE…but sometimes,
yeah sometimes, .i.wish.it.was.
I wish that making
a move
was as easy as
using color.
and that the goal,
yeah. that.
was as easy as
meeting a King.
I wish that we could
Skip a turn, sit down,
Be together for a moment
(never more than
A few paces away)
(not a few states)
I wish we were all
“together” and
“close,”
.but.
I know.
CANDYLAND IS NOT
And never will be
REAL LIFE.
