Leave The Past Behind

By MidniteBlaze

So this is it
I made my move
I did what I felt I should do
I went with the heart
And now the past returns
It hits me again
As you speak I know what is coming
And I really cannot believe it
And I really do not know what to do
I cannot believe it
And you knew this for a while
Back when I was still trying
But you did not open up to me yet again
Something could have happened
And now it is too late
I set my decision in stone
Why must it be this way?
And you are not the only person this has happened with either
It is just that I held you so close
And to hear this hurts me
And also makes me think
But I do not want to think
That is why I set myself free
And for the time being to make myself happy
I see myself happy now
I can hope it continues
But relationships have no guarantees
It always seems to be this way
You gave me the wrong impression
But I always knew deep inside how you really felt
Only problem is with you
You and the constant holding back
And continuously pushing me away
It all got to me
And I started defending myself
I tried to make myself happy
Finally I seemed to succeed
And you were never there
So I fought strictly for what makes me happy
And this is what I did
While I do not regret my decision
I cannot believe you would do this
You can feel how you feel all you want
But actions always speak louder than words
And if you really wanted it
You should have spoken up
But what is done is done
And as long as I am not hurt
I am going to stay this way
I am content with my new ways
I have no intention on changing
I thought I would shed a tear
But I cannot anymore
You chose to leave the past behind
And now so have I
