A Static Lullaby

By Munkey

A lullaby that no-one can hear
A burnt past shed with a tear
Everything we were
And the nothing we are now

The past a crisp white
The thought of everything’s alright
The future a shade of black
The knowing that we'll get nothing back

A hazy shade of grey
Reminds us of our now
The static all we can hear
A dream we can not help but fear

This is the static lullaby
That lulls us all to sleep
This is the static lullaby
That makes the heart weep

The three colors tell us everything
A sound like when the devils sing
Past, future and present wrapped up in a bow
The sense of what you could make of it no-one really knows

Nothing can be what it used to be
Nothing is what we think that it will be
The past is the past and the future is murky
But our now will last forever
