Memorial.

By Amanda Parnell

Laying next to you in this constellation of breathing,
No touching, No moving, No feeling, we struggle breathing.
No kissing, No singing, Just listen to our hearts beating.
Lights flicker from the bleeding.
Three words and I'm crying.
We both said that we were trying.
As we lay there slowly dying.
It feels like I am dreaming and now that I am flying
I hope I never wake. for this tension brings me suffering.
I could have sworn I proved myself loving.

This is my obituary.
This is you lying next to me.
This is out hearts dripping from blood.
That kept our mind from seeing.

This is our memorial.
