Defeated By You...

By Midnight Shadow

I run away,
Looking back over my shoulder.
Running away from my past,
So dark and haunting.
Then, I stop.

You reach out to steady me
As I look up into your eyes.
I apologize for running into you,
But suddenly your arms are enfolding me.

Then the shock wave hits,
Every horror of my life.
My knees buckle under the constant abuse,
Yet you keep me adrift.

I grow cold as my past tries to break me,
But the wall around me is strong and prevails.
Then...
My past is defeated.

The wall slowly starts to crumble,
My only protection gone,
And I fear what is on the other side.
All I see is you.

Your mysterious green eyes gazing at me.
I find myself lost in them,
And feel your arms still around me.
The sweep away all chill from before,
Warming the very depths of my soul.

For the first time,
I feel something strange inside.
Two words can describe this feeling,
Happiness...
And the other is completely foreign to me,
Love...

I smile this time as I look into your eyes.
Your lips capture mine in a kiss...
I awaken remembering,
The moment I fell in love...

This scares me. My only thought in the end was "But when he leaves he has ton down all your shields and left you naked, vonerable.." Love, if it is true has enough power to defeat almost everything... even the past. Beyond my fear: this was beautiful. Lov

Ah...yes, so true. But the question is...did he leave or is he still by my side? lol...one of the many mysteries I love my poetry to contain. Unfortunately, this is a poem of pure fiction on my part. So it is beauty with no reality...~Tracy
