Home Sweet Home

By Savannah

I close my eyes and daydream
of a place that's far from here.
A place that's filled with beauty.
This place contains no fear.

The people are accepting.
They do not stop and stare.
They do not mind the way you dress
or the colors of your hair.

Everyone is different
yet everyone's the same.
The streets are filled with smiling faces.
No one calles you names.

My daughter can grow up here
and never have to care
whether she fits in or not
or what she's going to wear.

No one will be mean to her
the way people treated me.
She never will be ridiculed
for all the world to see.

She will never feel the pain I felt.
She will never have to cry.
If we could only stay here
in this place behind my eyes.
