Epithaph for a Child

By ShadowFlight

White marble unadorned
polished shining
pure white, no vein
stands tall before the fresh turned earth
of a child's grave
though waiting for the graver's chisel
it is now the stone sings truth
before inscription is carved
innocent in its' emptiness
waiting for its' fulfillment
unaware that a touch will change it forever
stone Innocence now standing watch,
guard for the child's grave
a clean slate unfaulted
not long enough in the world
for stain of years or weather
and unknowing of a broken heart
with no words to scar its' surface nor its' heart
is a fitting epitaph for a child.

so very sad...evokes feeling and empathy inside.not everyone could turn an event of this nature into something wonderful;yet, you have by relaying this all so well with imagery and intellect.*nice*
