You Said Goodbye

By Anaelle

Can't say I didn't try
But you're the one who said goodbye
You never saw what I was trying to show
And now I'm left with broken memories
Questions no one can answer
I held my heart in the palm of my hand
For you to pluck for the picking
I left myself unprotected
Because you told me to do so
And what a fool I was to go back
After you took the first slash
And left me bleeding
Didn't you see the stains on the floor?
Didn't you noticed the red fingertips?
When I touched your cheek with love...
Funny how everyone gives up
And I'm still the one trying
The one you didn't want
The one who somehow failed you
When I couldn't mend myself right
You haven't the right to say I didn't try
Even when my hands fell empty
Leaving a heart to sink...
How could you not have noticed...
The ink running dry
Poems unfinished - words fading
You didn't notice my whispers had left
But how dare you say goodbye
How dare you fill my empty hands with guilt
How dare you play the victim
When my intentions were pure
How dare you call me a liar
When it's your history that is repeating
How dare you say I didn't care
When all those tears
Fell on all those poems
That you never bothered to read
You have no right to make the next move
It's your turn to wait for me
To say goodbye
