Raining Love

By Anaelle

Rain beating - beating down on me
Love wearing me thin
I thought I'd be more careful
Than letting myself slip again
You don't understand the words
That stumble past my lips
I thought I could let you help me
But you only make me weak
And I wonder why you smile
So softly it gives me hope
When the mud sticks to my clothes
Like hands dragging me down
Down - down into your embrace
I hear your whispers in the night
Gentle angels surrounding my mind
But the words slip without meaning
Falling and twisting
Growing wings of their own
Taking flight through the trees
Were they ever really meant for me?
Or have you always danced to your own song
Oh, to be the one to tame you
To take you in my arms
And hold you under the rain
And to slip - slip again
Sliding without care
Tumbling once more into love
