Dark Whispers

By Anaelle

I heard them whisper in my ear
They called my name, so sweet on their lips
They summoned me to their depts
But I did not go
Even as you pushed me away
I would not go
How can I run from the source of my pain
So safe and comfortable
I'll always come back again
And I know you'll be waiting still
With arms outstretched to embrace me
But the moon cries softly alone
She swallows our pain and keeps it inside
I wonder where her tears go when I cry my own
I wonder where she hides when she's not to be seen
Do the demons beg her mercy
As they beg mine
Still they haunt my deep slumber
As your painfilled eyes mock my shattered mine
But I only hate myself
Creating these dark places for my funhouse
Only to lock the door
I keep you out by making you push me away
Yet I continue to struggle
Fighing my losing battle
So you'll love me till time's end
But I don't know if I can hang on that long
Will you surcome to their whispers
Only to leave me alone to my torment
I'd scream your name
But my voice always fails
No that you'd hear it beyond your own pain
They tell me you hurt more than I do anyways
I only wanted to wrap you up in myself
And keep you safe
But somehow I turned you against me
And you whisper in my ear like they do
Soft words of love and care
Where do they come from when I've twister your heart
Drained of every emotion you use to show me everyday
But I grasp your whispers
And pretend nothing's changed
When only your voice has stayed the same
Words timeless on your lips
As the moon's timeless light shines on me
