Come Dance

By Anaelle

Leaves dance about my feet
As the wind provides the silent music
Heavy footsteps trail a lonely path
The music does not play for me
As it plays for you
The leaves taunt and mock me
Dancing like pixies amid elves
Impish laughter filling my ears
Like shards of shattered glass
Blood dripping, warm and comforting
Sliding across skin without feeling
Silky, smooth...pain reflected in your eyes
But can you see it?
Dancing among dead leaves
I don't feel it, the wind peircing frozen skin
Breaking like a porcelain doll
The breeze picking up the peices
Carrying them in an immortal dance
No one to be my partner...
Immortality has passed me by
But who's to remember?
A dead corpse, lying among deader leaves
Only coming alive to dance again
With the shift of a growing wind
Bloody footsteps walking away from a pool
A faded reflection broke by ripples
Waves caused by salty tears
