Bed of Roses

By Anaelle

On a bed of roses I wait for you to hold me
Their softness filling me with the false sense that you're near
Just like the false gods that everyone prays to,
Which gives them false hope
Their smell filling me with the need to take in your smell
The scent of your skin, your clothes, your hair, your breath
Each individual petal reminding me of a different quality I love about you
The way you make me laugh when I'm depressed,
How you make me feel not so quite alone
Their tenderness,
The tenderness of your caress, voice, words, heart
In this disillusionment of roses
I imagine I can touch you if only I reach far enough
And maybe one day I will...
But underneath all this love I hold for you
Remains a depressive undertone
As one by one, slow but noticeably
Each petal dries out, discolours and blows away
That maybe one day our time will run out even before it begins
