My Beautiful Nightmare

By dyingallover

Underneath the blankets,
Eyes fixated on the beauty of the shining stars,
I hold you.
Subtle notes of hazlenut fill the air.
The candlelight illuminates your radiant skin against the night.
You rmidnight black hair gracefully falls in your face as you turn to gaze at me.
I tuck it behind your ear to marvel at the breathtaking beauty of your deep brown eyes.
We turn our attention back to the sky,
Where the moonlight illuminates the infinite beauty of the surrounding world-
A beauty that- infite as it may be- pails in comparison to yours.
You say to yourself:
"I've never seen such beauty."
I know you must have never owned a mirror.
With your hand in mine, time has taken pause.
Timeless are the harmonies of every breath you take,
Eternally grateful you have the life to take them.
The wind glides gently through the air
Blowing your hair in my face.
The gentle notes of vanilla and papaya
Linger through the timeless void of bliss encompassing our two souls.
"Can I tell you something?" I ask you, voice full of love and admiration.
"Yes?" You lovingly yet eagerly respond,
Eyes dancing with wonder and euphoria as you wait.
"I love you." Words I've never meant with such authenticity until this moment.
"I love you, too."
The wind echoes the sweet serenade of your voice.
Relishing in the moment, my lips meet yours.
Splendor and majesty of the highest caliber.
I lose myself in your embrace.
I am you.
You are me.
Our souls unite and make us one.
In this moment, all is as it should be.
I feel no desire.
I feel no pain.
I feel no longing.
All I feel is my heart aching with love-
Love for you, my precious.
In this moment, I am healed.
In this moment, I am whole.

It is in this moment I awake.

My eyes open and fall on the bleak, lifeless walls.
My outreached hand returns to me empty,
For there is no hand to hold.
There never was.
You were never there.
I am alone once more.
I manage to drag myself out of bed.
I wonder what the day brings?
I carry myself throughout my desolate world,
My body taking me where it may.
My steps are with aim but without purpose
As I fulfill my responsibilities -
But I find no meaning in them.
Only longing.
At last, my day is over.
My headphones seal me from the outside world
As I attempt to find the lyrics that echo the bitter, melancholy sentiment I feel within.
It eases the pain while it lasts.
But my joy is fleeting, so this too has run its course,
As if my happiness is a dream
And I am beginning to wake up.
I lay my head to rest,
Knowing that for a few short hours I,
Along with my turmoil and despair,
May take a brief leave of absence.
As I drift off into sleep,
I think of you.
I hope your presence graces my lonely soul once more,
No matter if it is only in my dreams,
Where I every second I hold you
And find neverending solace in your embrace
Is but a figment of my imagination.
My consciousness is fleeting,
Joy ever so subtly setting in.
I think to myslef:
"I wonder what tomorrow brings."

Good stuff. I enjoyed this because of the dramatic word choice and expressive tone. Thank you for sharing. :)
