Hunger is God
By streetpoet
Men fight like beasts, killing in the street,
clawing and tearing over morsels of meat.
They hunt down each other,
throough fallen rubble that once was a city.
tooth and nail, brother against brother,
no room for mercy and no place for pity.
Few can remember how things got this bad
and it would profit them none to care.
In the new religion Hunger is God
and God is present everywhere.
Sewage rats have come to surface
as the new number one food source.
Survival in this concrete jungle is scarce
and usualy taken by force.
Mutated babies enter this world eveyday,
three stillborn for each one living.
The damage is done, there's nowhere to run.
War is the gift that never stops giving.
Glass towers have tumbled
into jagged mountains of the past,
under which HOPE was crumbled
in the last hydrogen blast.
Walking nightmares writhe in pain
beneath a crimson tinted sky.
The air is thick with deadly desease,
but only the lucky ones die.
Leftovers of what once was the human race
are now just worms feasting on the decay
of dear MOTHER EARTH.
Passed away while giving birth
to her most beloved child.
the one so fair that turned so wild.
The one that detested, molested and defiled
the gift she freely gave.
Now the womb of life has been transformed
into a massive unmarked grave.
Somewhere in the consiousness of creation
a speck of dust stings an eye.
With a single tear time washes clear
any memories of anything ever happening here.
The human light is extinguished
with no more than a sigh
and in the mind of God a new thought begins.

Yikes. That was...wow. I'm impressed. The thoughts in this reflect my own on wars, hunger, and the such. We kill what keeps living little by little every day.
