Unspoken words to a dead hero

By A poet of madness

I want to take it all back
And do it over
I want to have a good relationship with you before you died
I don't know if it was me or you or both
Honestly I don't even care
I wish we both had the strength to put the bottle down
And we were kinder to ourselves
And we didn't fight so much
If we really could hit rewind
Would it turn out any better?
‎or would it just hurt more?
‎I don't know
‎ your birthday is coming up again
‎ that and your death day always tear me apart
‎I would give anything for one more hug right now

I can relate to this one intimately... The only solace, if any, is that almost EVERYONE wishes they could do something different, or more, or better...or something. I have never heard anyone say "yup, everything was perfect - couldn't have done it better." I would love some do-overs myself... Ciao, T/S Scholar

Man this really hammers home the concept of "hug the ones you love because you never know when they'll leave you". Sad to know this is part of your reality and I hope despite the pain you can take a minute to think of some happy moment you shared. Thank you for sharing.
